In June 2012 the session approved Steve Smith to serve LPC as pastoral counselor. Steve has demonstrated a particular proficiency in marital concerns, premarital counseling, grief and loss, anxiety/depression, and vocational transition. Steve is currently working towards completing the requirements for licensure in the State of Pennsylvania and is under the supervision of a licensed professional counselor. In addition to his position at Lansdale Presbyterian Church, he also serves as a part time staff counselor at Biblical Seminary and volunteers as a couples’ counselor at the Pregnancy Resource Clinic of North Penn.
Steve provides low cost pastoral counseling services for members and friends of LPC as well as working with area churches that can not afford an onsite pastoral counselor.
Past ministry positions include Pastoral Care Counselor at a senior living community, Director of Pastoral Administration and Young Adult Ministry here at LPC, Moderator of the North East Presbytery, Chairman of the Presbytery Administration Committee, and Clerk of the Provisional Session of a PCA church plant in the Lehigh Valley. He is currently a member of the Presbytery Church Health Team.
He previously held corporate management positions with a fortune 500 computer company and served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. Steve’s hobbies include restoring a 1962 Corvette and showing it in local car shows.
Steve is married to Pamela Smith who serves as Vice President for Student Advancement at Biblical Seminary. Pam serves as a performance coach for women that are in upper management and executive positions for Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) and volunteers as a peer counselor at the Pregnancy Resource Clinic of North Penn. Pam also assists Steve in couples’ counseling and pre-marital counseling.
